How to Delete Unwanted Photos on iPhone

Accidental shots, saved social images, old screenshots, and forgotten screen recordings can make a photo library difficult to search. The safest cleanup separates those files into smaller groups and keeps a final review between selection and deletion.

Download and Set Up HEVCut

Open the App Store, search for HEVCut, choose the app with the purple icon, and tap Get. Open it and allow full photo-library access so the app can group the media you want to review.

Start with Focused Categories

Open Unwanted Photos and choose a category such as screenshots or screen recordings. Review the items, select the obvious clutter, and keep anything that still has a purpose.

Make Quick Individual Decisions

Use Swipe Cleaner when a category is still too broad. Swipe right to keep a photo or left to place it in the deletion bucket. Use Undo whenever a photo goes into the wrong group.

Review Before Deleting

Open the deletion bucket and inspect every choice. Deselect documents, receipts, favorites, and images that exist nowhere else. Confirm the deletion only after the selection is correct.

Removed items enter the Photos app’s Recently Deleted album. They remain recoverable for a limited period and continue to use storage until iOS removes them or you empty that album.
