  1. Version 10.2.3

    October 2026

    Mac

    Steadier compression on Mac.

    • Fixes video compression failing on Macs whose encoder doesn't offer a speed or quality setting.
    • Your photo library and a drive no longer compress at the same time. If one is running when you start the other, an Already Compressing alert tells you which one.
    • External drive keeps compressing when you leave its screen or open a result, and the Home tile shows when files on your drive are compressing and takes you back to the queue.
    • Reliability: you can act on finished drive files again while others are still compressing.
    • Also brings the 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 changes to Mac, including source dates on files compressed on a drive.
  2. Version 10.2.2

    October 2026

    iPhone & iPad

    Includes 10.2.1

Files on a drive keep their dates.

    • Files compressed with External drive keep the original file's dates.
    • The library scan now pauses when you leave HEVCut and picks up where it left off when you come back. Compression still continues in the background.
    • Reliability: iOS closes HEVCut less often when you leave the app in the middle of a run.
    • Reliability: fixes an error screen that could appear when iOS prepared HEVCut in the background right after a restart.
  3. Version 10.2

    October 2026

A native Mac app, and HDR AVIF photos look right.

    • HEVCut now runs as a native Mac app, with Mac-style controls and sizing instead of a scaled iPad layout. On Mac, this release also brings everything from 10.1.
    • Fixes an issue where about one in four HDR photos saved as AVIF looked darker than the original.
    • Thumbnails of HDR AVIF photos in the grid now match how Apple shows them in standard range.
    • Larger main buttons on Mac.
  4. Version 10.1

    October 2026

    iPhone & iPad

    4K when you want it.

    • New Keep original resolution toggle, a free option: keep 4K videos at 4K instead of scaling them to 1080p. It replaces the old resolution picker.
    • Compressed copies of Shared Library items now collect in an Add to Shared Library album, so you can move them to the Shared Library together.
    • When iOS ends background time, compression pauses, sends a Time Sensitive “Compression paused” notification, and resumes when you open HEVCut.
    • Home shows the total space you've saved, at every window size.
    • Reliability: Start Over in Swipe goes back through items you'd already reviewed, and long compressions are cut short by the system less often.
  5. Version 10.0

    October 2026

A new Home, redesigned for iOS 26.

    • A Liquid Glass redesign. Home replaces the tab bar, with a tile for each tool, and on iPad and Mac tool screens gain an inspector beside the grid.
    • Home's header shows sync status, a Low storage warning when your device is nearly full, and a prompt if notifications are off.
    • Clutter adds QR & barcodes and Blurry photos, based on Apple Photos' own analysis, and sorts Messaging apps and Social media by where Photos says each item came from.
    • Duplicates and Clutter get summary cards and an action bar for the items you select.
    • Items kept only in iCloud show a Stored in iCloud badge, and HEVCut has its own Reduce Motion setting.
    • Reliability: a faster first scan, safer saves when compression is interrupted, AVIF color and HDR fixes, and the screen stays awake while HEVCut is open.
  6. Version 9.1

    September 2026

    Choose how much to compress.

    • New compression settings for videos and photos with four levels, Gentle, Standard, High and Maximum, each with a plain-language summary.
    • Fine-tune (Pro) sets the exact bitrate or quality, resolution and frame rate, with a short note on each option.
    • More sizes: videos from 4K and 1440p down to 360p, and a 1920 px option for photos.
    • See the total space you can reclaim before you compress everything.
    • A file that won't shrink at your setting offers Increase compression in its details.
    • Widgets are translated into the app's languages.
  7. Version 9.0

    September 2026

Compression keeps going after you leave.

    • On iOS 26, compression continues after you leave the app, with progress shown by the system.
    • Pending Deletions Live Activity: a Lock Screen reminder when items are waiting for you to confirm their deletion.
    • New Keep Live Photo option: keep the motion when you compress a Live Photo, or drop it to save more space.
    • New Gentle preset for videos: lighter compression that stays closer to the original.
