Media processing stays on your device
HEVCut compresses photos and videos locally. We don't upload your original or compressed media files to our servers for compression.
No in-app ads
HEVCut doesn't display third-party ads. We do use Meta App Events to measure ads that promote HEVCut and understand whether they lead to installs or subscriptions.
No contact profile required
We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment card details to use the app.
Information we process
Product analytics and diagnostics
We use PostHog to understand and improve the app. Depending on how you use HEVCut, this may include:
- Usage events, such as app launches, screens and features used, compression outcomes, and session duration
- Technical information, such as device type, OS version, app version, performance data, errors, and approximate country or region
- Pseudonymous identifiers that help us recognize an app installation and connect related analytics events
PostHog session replay may also capture periodic images of the app interface for troubleshooting. These captures can include media previews visible on screen, but HEVCut doesn't send the underlying media files to PostHog.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat helps us manage entitlements and subscription events. They may process the product purchased, transaction and subscription status, price and currency, an app-specific user identifier, IP address, and device identifiers such as the Identifier for Vendor (IDFV). We don't receive your full payment card details.
Meta advertising measurement
The Meta SDK may automatically send app install or first-open, app activation, and purchase-related events, along with app, device, network, and pseudonymous Meta identifier information. RevenueCat may also send subscription events such as trial starts, initial purchases, renewals, and related revenue to the same Meta app event source. We use this information to attribute, measure, and improve ads for HEVCut on Meta services.
If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, HEVCut may access and share Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) with Meta and RevenueCat for advertising attribution. If you don't grant permission, we don't access or share your IDFA. Other events and pseudonymous identifiers may still be processed as permitted by Apple and your settings.
What we don't collect
- Your media files for cloud compression. Compression happens locally on your device.
- Your contacts or precise location. We don't request access to either.
- Your login or payment credentials. Apple manages App Store authentication and payment information.
How we use and share information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, improve, and troubleshoot HEVCut
- Manage purchases, subscriptions, and access to paid features
- Measure and improve advertising for HEVCut
- Prevent abuse and maintain service security
We share data only with service providers needed for these purposes, including Apple, PostHog, RevenueCat, and Meta. We don't provide them with your original media files. Interface captures used for session replay may include previews that are visible in the app.

Your choices and rights
App Tracking Transparency
You can allow or deny tracking when iOS asks. You can change that choice later in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking. Denying permission prevents HEVCut from accessing your IDFA, but doesn't stop all analytics or purchase processing.
Deletion and privacy requests
Deleting HEVCut removes its local app data, but not media you saved to your Photos library or records already held by service providers. To ask about access, correction, or deletion rights available in your location, email us at privacy@hevcut.com. We may need information that lets us locate the relevant pseudonymous record.
Security and retention
Local media is protected by iOS security, including device encryption and app sandboxing. Compression works offline, although analytics, purchase validation, and attribution require network access. Service providers retain information according to their policies and our configured retention settings.
Children's privacy
HEVCut isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided information through the app, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect app updates or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated last-modified date.
