Common questionsFAQ

Most things are already answered.

The app is stuck scanning my photos. What should I do?
Large photo libraries can take several minutes to scan. Keep the app in the foreground during the initial scan. If progress hasn't moved in 10 minutes, close and reopen the app. If it persists, restart your iPhone and try again.
My storage didn't free up after compressing or deleting photos. Why?
Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app and aren't permanently removed for 30 days. To free space immediately, open Photos, Albums, Recently Deleted, and tap Delete All. iCloud Photos may also take time to sync changes (check Settings, Apple ID, iCloud).
Can I restore photos I accidentally deleted?
Yes. Deleted photos sit in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Open Photos, Albums, Recently Deleted to restore them. After 30 days they are permanently deleted.
Why can't HEVCut access my photos?
HEVCut needs permission to access your photo library. Go to Settings, HEVCut, Photos, and select Full Access. Limited access does not work because the app needs to scan your entire library to find optimization opportunities.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open HEVCut, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. If the restore doesn't work, sign out and back into the App Store, then try again.
Will compressing photos reduce their quality?
HEVCut uses intelligent compression that removes only invisible data. At normal viewing sizes the difference is imperceptible. Your photos look the same on your iPhone, when shared, or when printed at typical sizes.
Does HEVCut upload my photos anywhere?
No. All processing happens on your device. Your photos never leave your iPhone. HEVCut has no servers, does not collect your photos, and does not require an internet connection.
