How to Clean Up Your iPhone Camera Roll by Swiping

A large camera roll feels difficult because selecting hundreds of photos at once requires too many decisions. A swipe workflow reduces the job to one question: keep this photo or put it aside for deletion?

Download HEVCut and Set It Up

Open the App Store, search for HEVCut, choose the app with the purple icon, and tap Get. After opening the app, grant full photo-library access so Swipe Cleaner can show the media you want to review.

Use Swipe Cleaner

Open Swipe Cleaner in HEVCut. For each photo:

• swipe right to keep it;
• swipe left to add it to the deletion bucket;
• tap Undo if you change your mind.

A swipe records your choice. It does not immediately erase the photo, which makes the process more forgiving than deleting directly from the library after every decision.

Review in Small Sessions

Do not try to finish a multi-year library in one sitting. Ten focused minutes is enough to reduce a month, trip, or event. A practical order is:

1. accidental or blurry photos;
2. repeated shots where one image is clearly best;
3. temporary reference images;
4. saved images you no longer recognize or need.

Use Undo Without Worry

Fast review only works when mistakes are reversible. Tap Undo as soon as a keeper goes into the wrong bucket. You can also review the bucket at the end and remove any photo that should remain in the library.

Confirm Only After the Final Review

Open the deletion bucket and scan every selection before confirming. Pay extra attention to documents, receipts, favorites, edited photos, and images that exist nowhere else.

After confirmation, iOS places removed photos in Recently Deleted. They remain recoverable for a limited time, but also continue to use storage. Empty that album only after you have checked the surviving library.

Keep the Camera Roll Manageable

A short weekly review is easier than an annual cleanup. Combine Swipe Cleaner with focused categories for screenshots and screen recordings, then use the largest-video workflow when the goal is to reclaim storage quickly.
