Tool · Personal Vault

Keep the originals. Free the space.

Personal Vault stores full-quality copies of your photos and videos in a private locker tied to your Apple ID. Compress or delete from your library with confidence, the originals are one tap away.

Private by design03

Yours alone. Period.

Tied to your Apple ID

Sign in with a different Apple ID and the vault is empty. Only your account can read it.

Hidden from Photos

Vault items don't appear in the regular Photos app, Memories, shared albums, or AirDrop suggestions.

No HEVCut servers

We don't run a backend that holds your media. End-to-end private, uploads bypass us entirely.

Why a vault04

For the moments compression makes you hesitate.

Originals, just in case

Stash the full-quality file before HEVCut compresses or deletes anything. Years from now, pull the untouched original back into Photos with one tap.

Not-for-camera-roll items

Move sensitive photos and videos out of Photos entirely. They live in the Vault, not in shared albums, Memories, or AirDrop suggestions.

A net for aggressive cleanup

Use Swipe Cleaner or the duplicate finder more confidently. If you ever regret a delete, the Vault copy is still there.

How it works03

Three steps. No filing system to learn.

  1. 01

    Pick what to vault

Select photos and videos from your library: single items, whole albums, or filtered batches. HEVCut pulls the original from your Photo Library if it isn't already on-device.

  2. 02

    Send to your private vault

Files transfer to your private vault tied to your Apple ID. No HEVCut server in the loop. A progress sheet shows the queue and lets you cancel anytime.

  3. 03

Compress or delete the library copy

Now safely backed up, the original in Photos can be compressed or deleted. Need the full-quality version back later? Open the Vault, tap Restore.

QuestionsFAQ

Common questions.

Who can access my Vault?
Only you. The Vault is tied to your Apple ID, end-to-end private, and HEVCut runs no server that holds your media. There's a visible quota indicator inside the app.
Will vaulted items show up in Photos, Memories, or shared albums?
No. Once an item is in the Vault, it's outside the Photos library. It doesn't appear in shared albums, Memories, or AirDrop suggestions. Restoring it brings it back into Photos.
What happens if I delete HEVCut?
Vault data is preserved against your Apple ID. Reinstall HEVCut, sign in with the same Apple ID, and your Vault contents come right back.
Can someone with my phone see what's in the Vault?
Only someone who can unlock your phone and open HEVCut. The Vault is hidden from the Photos app and from any other app that reads the photo library. For an extra layer, use iOS Screen Time app limits on HEVCut itself.
Are files compressed when they go into the Vault?
No. The Vault stores the untouched original so restoring it gives you the full-quality file back. Compression happens on the library copy (or not at all), independent of what's in the Vault.
Can I access Vault originals from a Mac or another device?
Yes. Install HEVCut on any device signed into the same Apple ID and the Vault contents are available there too. Restored items land in that device's Photos library.
